Rio de Janerio is one of those colourful cities of the world, which is quite well known in the world because of its famous carnivals and colourful celebrations. It all started out as an art project turning the place into what it is like now. In 2010, two Dutch artists, Haas and Hahn, decided that they will fill out the Favela Santa Maria slum with colours and designs giving it a new energetic life. Help was taken from local teenagers, and the slums were turned into a rainbow like place. You definitely don’t want to miss it out.
St. John’s, Newfoundland
Jellybean Row in St. John’s in Newfoundland was painted in a way that made the houses to be clearly seen from the sea for the ship captains. They used to assign a certain bright colour of their choice for their homes. These buildings are all sheared in white, Victorian styled. This designing has made this place to stand out having continuity along the row.
Jaipur, India
Maharaja Swai Ram Singh wanted to welcome the Prince of Wales, Edward, in a tremendous way that no one would ever be able to forget, and – you bet – he did! The whole town was transformed in 1853. Every other building was painted Pink. Even if you go see now, the buildings are really beautiful with their faded pink colours. This truly makes Jaipur deserving to be included in the list of colourful cities of the world.
Bo-Kaap, Cape Town
Bo-Kaap, an area of Cape Town which is the second largest city of South Africa is known for its amazingly stupendous blend of colours. You will find every cool colour in the city – from lime, yellow to an aquamarine – in almost every place, from the bottom of Signal Hill and all the way to the top. Similarly, houses and mosques are decorated in a series of colours making the city absolutely an eye candy. The city was coloured by the former slaves, who were bought by the Dutch, to celebrate the end of the racial discrimination being conducted afore.
Vernazza, Italy
Italy being one of the most toured states has another colourful city Vernazza, which makes it even more beautiful. The beautiful ocean which gives freshness to eyes because of the oh-so blue water, and the different colours of boats and buildings which range from yellow to pink and sea green, give this city a fresh charm.
