Fashionista, Jillian Owens years ago was determined to change her societies view of fashion . She was at the time broke, discouraged and unhappy with the unethical labor practices that were rampant at the time. She decided to explore the local thrift shops to seek out discarded clothes that had tremendous potential. She was also worried about the implications on the planet since people tend to always throw out their worn clothes too quickly only to make room for newer and cheaper ones. She sets out daily to sift through he nearby and some distant thrift shop racks to identify clothing that have fashion potential. She obtains these and takes them back to her work station at home. Here she works on them by adjusting, trimming, hemming dying and so on. Just to make them more fashion –progressive, the twist is that all this may cost just a Dollar! She throws in some accessories like belts, shoes, sun shades and Eureka! You have a fashionable piece of clothing hanging on your clothes rack. You can view more of her work on her fashion blog- Refashionista.
