Think you know birds? Think again. Most checklists used by bird watchers as well as by scientists say that there are roughly between 9,000 and 10,000 species of birds.
As of December 2019, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) lists 460 endangered avian species. 4% of all evaluated avian species are listed as endangered. No subpopulations of birds have been evaluated by the IUCN.
For a species to be considered endangered by the IUCN it must meet certain quantitative criteria which are designed to classify taxa facing “a very high risk of extinction.” An even higher risk is faced by critically endangered species, which meet the quantitative criteria for endangered species. Critically endangered birds are listed separately. There are 683 avian species that are endangered or critically endangered.
Here the list of extraordinarily beautiful birds in the world.
