18 year old Kyemah McEntyre was bullied at high school. However, when it came to her graduation, what she had experienced didn’t cause her to sink back into her shell – instead, she used it as fuel to create something awesome, and the result was that she made a huge statement, and even became the prom queen! Kyemah used her African heritage and her creative talents to create a stunning dress inspired by her African roots. Here is what she said about the experience: “I am 18 years old and I am undoubtedly of African Descent. As an artist I have a completely different point of view compared to most individuals. I am extremely analytical and observant…This is for always being labeled as, ‘ugly’ or ‘angry’. Thank God, stereotypes are just opinions.”
