Known as a 22° halo, the natural phenomena is caused by ice crystals in the atmosphere, specifically when thin cirrus or cirrostratus clouds are present at an altitude of approximately 15,000-30,000 feet. Filmed over Jervis Bay, Australia on January 1st, 2016.
