Icon Of The Seas: The New World’s Largest Cruise Ship

Icon of the Seas will be the first of Royal Caribbean‘s Icon Class cruise ships when she launches, marking the first new type of vessel for the cruise line since 2014. At 250,800 GT, it’s set to become the world’s largest cruise ship by gross tonnage, surpassing her older sisters Harmony of the Seas and Wonder of the Seas. Icon of the Seas will also have a capacity for 5,610 passengers at double occupancy, and a maximum of 7,600 guests. The ship will have a total length of 1,198 feet or 365 meters and will feature new eco-friendly propulsion systems.

Icon of the Seas

Icon of the Seas will begin offering cruises from Miami in January 2024. Miami will be the homeport from January 2024 through at least April 2025. Royal Caribbean has not announced plans yet for where the ship will sail from beyond April 2025. Icon of the Seas will sail all year round, starting in January 2024. There won’t be any downtime – guests can book a cruise from Miami to the Caribbean at any time of the year, including over Christmas.

Icon of the Seas is filled with eight neighborhoods, seven pools, and a waterfall

Icon of the Seas will feature 20 total decks, and 18 of them will be guest decks. The megaship will also have 8 neighborhoods, including 5 new neighborhoods: AquaDome, Thrill Island, Chill Island, Surfside, and The Hideaway. All of the new neighborhoods are designed to make guests pleased all the way they can. As the Royal Caribbean announced, the neighborhoods will have many new features and opportunities.

Icon of the Seas will have 2,805 cabins and 28 cabin categories, including new layouts for families of three, four, five, and more. The ship will have 13 suite categories, eight categories of balcony cabins, two categories of ocean view cabins, and five categories of inside cabins. Of the 28 cabin categories, 14 will be new, including two types of inside cabins, four balcony cabins, and eight suites.
