Multimedia artist Deniz Sağdıç has started on an art project that she creates portraits made of denim fabric instead of using paintings or other customary methods. She uses many different tones of denim fabrics and puts them together in a correlation. The fabric pieces that do not mean anything alone make fascinating portraits when they meet the creative hands and mind of the artist.
After she collects many different tones of denim fabrics, she cuts the fabric into squares, rectangles, or long strips and applies them to a canvas or board. The artist puts every piece of fabrics together with care to provide the right display that reflects the lightning and shadowing parts of the faces. This combination of modeling and texture gives these portraits a highly tactile and three-dimensional quality that is immediately striking.
