Melanie Barboni also known as ‘hummingbird whisperer’ is working as an assistant researcher in the UCLA Earth, Planetary and Space Science. She has successfully built a community of birds (about 200) outside her office and because of the cordial relationship she has with them, they do complain whenever she is late to serve their food.
Her obsession with hummingbirds started long ago when she was a child in Switzerland, this is a country without any population of this species.
“My dream as a child was to see hummingbirds. I was joyous when I discovered that my next job assignment is in Los Angeles where hummingbirds live all year round,” said Barboni.
She also added that “She can’t go to another environment where these birds can’t be seen…..This is amazing, but they do help people and I have seen that myself. They also make me happy. Having a fulfilled day? Who cares, there are hummingbirds around and they make the day lovely and fulfilled” The birds definitely make the good day better.
