Believe It Or Not, These Kids Are Standing In Front Of The Place They Call Home

Additionally, kids who were raised in Smelly Mountain are already considered this area as their home. These kids are already accustomed to everyday scene of garbage and trash.  Children here was able to play, made friends or even able to get education despite of their surroundings.

Each time a sanitation or garbage truck dumps a new batch of trash the residents gather and enjoy the chance. For them it is an opportunity to hunt for gold or find the best trash that they can still converted to money, so that they can have the money to buy their basic needs.

Despite of the intolerable heat and decomposing garbage with hundreds of flies, bugs, mice and other insects, most of the people living in the Smelly Mountain seem not to care.  This is because the people have somewhat adapted to the environment.

By the late 2009, the Cambodian government decided to finally close down the dumpsite and ousted the people who are living in the area. Many were relocated to other area, wherein they can live a life that is away from the dangers of the garbage in human life.

Poverty is one of the main reasons why such unimaginable situation happens. Remember that this is not just the only garbage dumpsite in the world. Unfortunately, there are still some dumpsites wherein certain community considers this as their home. It is just a matter of working hand-in-hand to achieve the goal, wherein someday there will be no community that will thrive in dumpsite. Source
