Most people on this planet love dogs and possibly even only one. However, not everyone can have this luxury of owning a dog. There are many people that are actually allergic to dogs. It can be one of the worst things to happen to dog lovers. Luckily there is always allergy medication that you can take. What do you do though if you really do not want to take medication? Well, you look for hypoallergenic dog breeds of course! Today we will be discussing some of these hypoallergenic dog breeds and a bit more about them.
Bichon Frise
The very first hypoallergenic breed of dog that we will be talking about is the Bichon Frise. This adorable little cotton ball of a dog originated from France and has a medium-length coat with a silky texture and tight short curls. The Bichon Frise breed was first bred to be hypoallergenic for those who suffer from allergies. These cuties stand anywhere from 9 to 11 inches tall so these adorable guys and gals stay rather small. If you have a pregnant Bichon Frise, you can expect anywhere from 4 to 6 puppies at one time. This hypoallergenic breed of dog typically has a lifespan of 12 to 15 years.

Miniature Schnauzer
Next on our hypoallergenic dog breed list is the Miniature Schnauzer. These little guys and gals are actually the number one choice to bring home when it comes to Schnauzers in general. This breed is not only hypoallergenic, but they also make wonderful watchdogs. The Miniature Schnauzer is known to be fearless despite its small size. These dogs have a very high energy level as well so lots of playtimes are needed for this breed to thrive. The best part about this breed, in particular, is that they do shed minimally. Miniature Schnauzers can be found in many different variations and have a rough life span of 12 to 14 years.

Poodle
The Poodle makes the number three spot on our hypoallergenic countdown list. Unlike other breeds, all Poodles fall under one hypoallergenic breed versus multiple. Poodles are also incredibly intelligent and can be trained very easily. This is just one reason why this breed is so popular. Most of us know that Poodles have a very distinct cut of fur, but why is this? This particular cut of fur actually helps in protecting their joints and internal organs while he or she swims. These dogs came over from Germany and have a lifespan of 11 1/2 to 12 years of age.

Yorkshire Terrier
The fourth adorable dog breed to cross our hypoallergenic list is the Yorkshire Terrier. Blessed with a very sweet and innocent face, the Yorkshire Terrier is the perfect purse or lapdog. Do not be fooled though, this small dog packs a very large attitude. Their fur coat has often been compared to that of human hair more so than animals. This is how this breed can help prevent sneezing. These little guys and gals do require a fair amount of grooming to make sure their coat stays clean, soft, and tangle-free. This breed has an average lifespan of 13 to 16 years.

Shih Tzu
The last hypoallergenic breed that we will be discussing is the Shih Tzu. Shih Tzu’s originated from China and is also known as Chinese Lion Dogs. These guys and gals go all the way back to the Tang Dynasty. With low shedding already being a perk, this breed is great for allergy sufferers. Shih Tzu’s are known for being friendly and even rather charming. This is another breed that requires a lot of upkeep when it comes to their fur. Shih Tzu’s can live anywhere from 10 to 15 years with a rough average been 12 years of age.

There are many other breeds of hypoallergenic dogs out there that we did not discuss here. When it comes down to you bringing any animal home, you should always do as much research as possible first. Just because you have a dog that is technically hypoallergenic, you could still experience allergy issues. This really all depends on how bad your allergies actually are. Since I personally own a dog that is not hypoallergenic I have to take medication regularly. Always remember to do your research on breeds and know that you do not have to suffer in order to be a dog owner.
