Although it was difficult, Carter-Johnson found a friend that her daughter could really build a relationship with. In an interview with Bored Panda, she mentions that “Thula has lowered [Iris’] daily anxieties in life and keeps Iris calm.”
What’s even more impressive, Carter-Johnson notes that “[Thula] has the effect of encouraging [Iris] to be more social” which goes to show the power of a good friendship, especially between a person and their pet companion.
