It is spring now and soon summer will be approaching. This means the sun is out and the heat is intense. If you happened to walk on the hot pavement and see a baby bird lying there, what would you do? Baby birds tend to have no feathers and only raw skin showing. If they are lying on the hot pavement with no other birds around, they may appear abandoned.
The truth is that most baby birds left alone outside by their mothers are only left temporarily. The mother birds have to look around for food to bring back to their babies so they can eat. A lot of people make the mistake of thinking baby birds are abandoned when they find them, but they usually are not. That is why it is best to leave the baby bird alone. If you don’t then it will either upset the mother bird if she happens to be close by or it will likely hurt the bird in the long run.
We get most of our baby patients in the spring, but this bird species mates all year round! Can anyone guess the identity of TWC's latest patient? #wildlife #babybird

The only time you should actually pick up the baby bird and take it away from where you found it is if it’s lying somewhere unusual like on your front porch. If you have a wildlife center near your location then take the bird to that. Another reason to pick up the bird is if it’s injured. In this case, take it to a veterinarian to get the medical attention it needs.
Guess the Species? These 4 week old baby birds were not being cared for properly by their parents. Can you guess what kind of bird they are?
