Artist Creates Magnificent Metal Sculptures From Old Cutlery

Matt Wilson is an artist from South Carolina. He has a hobby of creating spectacular sculptures crafted out of old cutlery. His passion for metallic sculpture began in 2006 when he worked as a director of the Center des Beaux-Arts in Greenville.

Wilson says his work is a reflection of the environment he lives in. By working as a resident artist at Detyens Shipyard, he gives a longer life cycle to discarded materials. He said, “The upcycled work I create is a testimony to the belief of conserving and appreciating our resources so that the environment in which we live will continue to be an environment in which we desire to live. My goal as an artist is to make artwork, unlike art people, have seen, while at the same time recognizable in the identity of everyday materials. ,”.

Although most of Wilson’s work represents birds, he’s also made metal insects, lobsters, fish, tiger, and even an octopus.
