What parent doesn’t love taking photographs of their children? You will struggle to find one, and when that parent is a professional photographer, the results are even more spectacular than normal.
Kate Parker has proudly captured her two daughters Ella, 9, and Alice, 6, defying stereotypes of being girly girls. She has dubbed them her beautiful warriors and wants to showcase them doing all sorts of fun and exciting activities. She has titled the album of photos as ‘Strong is the New Pretty’, and judging by some of the stuff her girls get up to, it is very apt.
Describing the images on her website, Parker says “I wanted this series of images to show their boldness, their strength and the beauty in them, as they are,”
“My girls know that who they are is just perfect. Their silly, adventurous, frustrated, happy, LOUD, athletic, fierce, funny selves. They don’t need to have their hair done, clothes matching, or even be clean to be loved or accepted. Strong is the new pretty’’
Not only that, but she has also photographed a group of 7th-grade girls who play football against boys every weekend. In a move aimed at challenging old gender stereotypes, it goes a long way in proving that children can fit into any roles they wish to, including ones thought to be just for boys. kateparkerphotography.com | Facebook | Instagram | Twitter
