Alexandre Chapelin is a designer with LA Table, and his Lagoon Series of tables is a celebration of the natural beauty of our planets endless oceans. The tables combine natural stone with resin, creating a striking contrast of rocky surfaces alongside the vibrant water-coloured resin.
They have a life-like appearance, resembling where the ocean comes together with plateaus, cliff faces, and other rocky features that are both above and below the sea. The tables themselves have been designed as models of St Martin, an island situated in the French West Indies.
“I take a natural block of natural stone and I include resin, to created a compact block for you to have the impression of having the ocean in your living room” Chapelin explains. “The used natural stone…marries perfectly with the resin that represents the ocean.”
Not only is this table an exquisite piece of décor, but it is also a showcase of oceanography!
