There is nothing more attractive in nature than a beautiful flower. Some are bright as can be, some come with amazing smells and color combinations, and some just do things completely different – just like the unique skeleton flower.
Known by its scientific name, diphelleia grayi, this white woodland blossom has the strange characteristic of its white petals turning clear and transparent upon contact with rainfall.
They are rather rare, however, growing in only three known locations across the world. These regions have a particular climate for the skeleton flower to thrive off. Moist regions of mountainous areas are required, with the colder wooded areas of these locations the best spots for the flowers to grow.
The only known countries for this flower to grow in are China, Japan, and the United States, where they can be found at the Appalachian Mountains.
The flower has large umbrella-shaped leaves that are impossible to miss unless the rain has made them transparent that is of course! Look for them when it is dry, as the petals revert back to their whiteness once they dry off.
