Everyday Items Matched up With Pantone Swatches

Pantone Swatches

Pantone are a company that creates a massive selection of colours that are used by the likes of graphic designers, those working in textiles and the printing industry. The have a wide selection of swatches, which are colours that can be used to find correct colours to use. One designer has taken a new step with her Pantone chip book, by matching everyday items with their corresponding colours. Inka Mattew finds interesting everyday items that “pique [her] interest and/or have special meaning” has a search for the correct one, places them together to see if they work, and if so takes a snap for her on-going collection. With the likes of fruit, flowers and even feathers all appearing to have a perfect match, they make for interesting images, with a minimalist yet very sleek design to them, placing an strong emphasis on colour. So far Matthews has around 145 matches to date, and is collection them together for her upcoming book. At the moment she is releasing previews of some images via her Tumblr.
