The Magnificent Sculptures Of Philip Jackson

Philip Jackson is a contemporary Scottish artist known for his bronze sculptures depicting life-sized elongated figures. “My sculptures are essentially an impressionistic rendering of the figure. Where you see the figure seemingly grow out of the ground, the texture resembles tree bark, rock, or lava flow,” he’s said of his work. “As the eye moves up the sculpture, the finish becomes gentler and more delicately worked, culminating in the hands and the mask, both of which are precisely observed and modeled.” Born on April 18, 1944, in Inverness, United Kingdom, he studied at the Farnham School of Art. His larger than life figural works, can found in public squares in cities across the United Kingdom. In 2009, he was appointed Commander of the Royal Victorian Order by Queen Elizabeth II. The artist currently lives and works in West Sussex, United Kingdom.
