Su Nuraxi: Nuragic Architecture Built 4000 Years Ago

The archaeological site of Su Nuraxi in Barumini dates back to the 2nd millenium BC in the Bronze Age. It is a kind of defensive structure known as nuraghi. The complex consists of circular towers with internal chambers. Due to the Carthaginian pressure, these defensive towers went into futher reinforement in the 1st millenium. As a result, this complex is the most complete and the finest example of prehistoric nuragic architecture today. The structure of Su Nuraxi also gives a great information about the Bronze Age civilization in Sardinia as the nuraghi form of defensive structures originated in there.
