On the occasion of the established diplomatic relations between China and France, Overseas Chinese Town Holdings Company commissioned a Sino-French agricultural science and technology park in Chengdu. Taking over the project, Shanghai Dachuan Architects put the culture of Southern France at the center while coming up with a design for the Sino-French Science Park Church. Therefore, with the inspiration from Provence, the architects decided to bring together a purple lavender field and the light of Impressionism of the Renaissance.

In order not to disrupt the pure look of the Sino-French Science Park Church, architects did not use any welds.
In order to express the spirit of freedom and romance, architects avoided traditional material usage and methods. Thus, they built a purely white and inevitably light church in a traditional Western church form. The main structural frame is a thin steel frame and a thick aluminum wall supports the structure to make it more stable. Aluminum is ideal for this purely white church as it is light seismic, corrosion resistant, and environmentally friendly. There is also a suspended dome built inside the church.
