Meet The World’s Oldest Cat Aged 26 Who Was Adopted From A Shelter

There is a new world record to learn about, and it’s held by Corduroy, a 26 year old cat who is still happy and healthy, even though he’s over 120 years old in cat years.  This cat, by rights, should have gone off to kitty heaven many years ago, but he survived and is still loving life, content and enjoying the sunshine.  He is an outdoor cat, so he kept healthy mentally and physically by chasing prey and keeping active.  He was able to get more out of life in all of his years, so life has given him much more to enjoy because of it.  He still hunts and acts young, despite his age.  He is well loved and still lives with his original (now grown up) owner that loves him dearly.  It’s a cat’s life!

Corduroy was adopted from a shelter in Oregon in 1989

“Corduroy certainly does not act his age – he still jumps onto counters and jumps down,” said Reed

“Every night, he glides up our flight of stairs and jumps onto our bed and sleeps with us before waking us up every morning around 5am”

“I strongly believe the key to his longevity is the fact we did not declaw him and allowed him to go outside”
