Coventry Cathedral Ruins in England
Dedicated to St. Michael, the Coventry Cathedral was originally a 14th-century redbrick building. Its disastrous end came during the Coventry Blitz of 14 November 1940 by the German Luftwaffe. Only the tower, spire, outer wall, and the tomb of its first bishop could survive after the bombing.
Whitby Cathedral Ruins in North Yorkshire, England
Founded in 657, Whitby Cathedral was the center of the medieval Northumbrian kingdom. However, it could not escape the destructiveness of the Dissolution of the Monasteries and also became a ruin in 1538.
Tartu Cathedral in Estonia
Invading a significant Pagan hill, Livonian Christians began the construction of a church in the second half of the 13th century. When the Reformation reached Tartu in the early 16th century, Protestant iconoclasts severely damaged the cathedral. Following wars and a lack of interest in the structure left it to decay.
