James McNabb: Wooden Cityscape Sculptures

James McNabb creates abstract cityscape sculptures by carving discarded pieces of wood with the help of a bandsaw. Getting his inspiration from the skylines, McNabb combines traditional woodworking techniques with experimental ways. These urban cityscape sculptures, or the Urbis series, contain skyscrapers, office buildings, high apartment buildings, etc. Each towering building is carved into a piece of wood, and then the pieces are assembled together to compose an intricate sculpture. Through his intricate sculptures, James McNabb both expresses his admiration for the beauty of modern cityscapes and on the other hand, addresses their overdevelopment.

Here is a compilation of McNabb’s most impressive urban city sculptures.
