Hyperrealistic Paintings of Children and Animals Exploring Urban Remains by Kevin Peterson

The images may look like the real deal, but these are in fact the work of the very talented painter Kevin Peterson. He has blended together the images of young children together with very realistic animals throughout various urban locations.

It looks like a modern fairy tale that is remarkably different. Young children are joined by wolves, bears, foxes, hyenas, and lions, and while this would normally strike fear into the heart of them in a real-life scenario, here the children bravely explore with the animals as protective companions.

“My work is about the varied journeys that we take through life,” explains Peterson. “It’s about growing up and living in a world that is broken. These paintings are about trauma, fear and loneliness and the strength that it takes to survive and thrive. They each contain the contrast of the untainted, young and innocent against a backdrop of a worn, ragged, and defiled world.”
