Chittorgarh Hill Fort in Rajasthan
Dating from the 7th century, the Chittorgarh, or Chittor Fort, was the capital of Mewar which is the south-central part of Rajasthan state. The fort encompasses 65 structures including four palaces, 19 temples, 9th-century stupas, 20 water bodies, and a few victory towers. The Chittor Fort, along with five other hill forts in Rajasthan, has been on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list since 2013.
Gwalior Fort in Madhya Pradesh
Although the exact construction date of the Gwalior Fort is uncertain, it at least dates from the 10th century. The current structure comprises two 15th-century palaces, Man Mandir and Gujari Mahal. Interestingly, a small temple inside the fort contains the second oldest record of the numeric zero symbol which is around 1500 years old.
