Pit bulls often get a bad reputation for being dangerous and violent dogs. This is pretty far from the truth in actuality, with them being known as loving, friendly, and loyal pets. Sadly they still make up a large number of dogs in the USA that are waiting to be adopted. Those that don’t find homes are euthanized, with 1.2 million dogs each and every year being put down. Unfortunately, pit bulls find themselves on this more than most dogs, which is something photographer Sophie Gamund hopes to change. Through her series ‘Flower Power: Pit Bulls of the Revolution’ she has captured some adorable snaps of pit bulls wearing cute flowery crowns to detract from the violent stereotype they are faced with. In her own words, she wants the flowers and dog combination to ‘infuse a softer energy into their imagery’. She has managed to capture photos of over 150 pit bulls that are currently up for adoption. It has proven quite successful as 114 of these dogs have since been adopted! List of all the dogs awaiting adoption can be found on her website, but in the meantime have a look at some truly adorable flower wearing pit bulls!
