The Swiss village of Vals has incredible views of the Andromeda Galaxy.
Vals is a small village in Switzerland that is fairly remote and has only about 990 people living there. However, the village itself is very special because it gives its residents picturesque views of the galaxy known as Andromeda. A photographer from the village named Sandro Casutt, and his brother Markus, decided to create a photography company dedicated to taking pictures of the universe and the Andromeda Galaxy that they can see up in the sky at nighttime. This company is called Cosmic Art Photography.
During the day, Casutt runs a tattoo parlor that he owns. But at night, he searches for the perfect spot in his village to take pictures of the amazing sky and all its stars. For the past two years, he’s taken quite a few pictures of the Andromeda Galaxy throughout the different seasons in the village. Remember, the Andromeda Galaxy is 220,000 light-years in size and is considered to be the largest out of 54 known galaxies that have been named the “Local Group.” In 4.5 billion years, scientists say the Andromeda Galaxy is going to collide with the Milky Way. After all, Andromeda is the closest galaxy to ours even though it is 2.5 million light-years away from us.
