Guerilla Grafters, a group started in 2011, is secretly involved in altering the ornamental trees present in San Francisco and has been grafting the trees so that they are able to bear fruits. The ornamental trees that otherwise bear no fruits now have branches that bear fruits, which this group achieved in a bid to create a better and sustainable environment. They came up with this idea when they realized that the sterile trees present in their vicinity are not able to help much in providing fresh air and prove to be beneficial to mankind. Hence, they are working aggressively to make trees do what they were actually intended to do! Usually, urban planners do not plant trees that bear fruits in the limits of cities as cleaning up has always been a major issue and the mess created might also result in the accumulation of vermin. Although this is not a welcome move by city planning officials, they have already grafted nearly 50 trees and they also work on keeping pests away once the trees start bearing fruits. Grafting is a very simple process, as they take a branch from a fruit bearing tree and insert it to the target tree where it starts growing. The aim of this group is to transform the city streets into food forests and unravel civilization; one branch at a time.
