Restoring Iconic Historical Monuments By Using Drones

Studio DRIFT creates a project in which artist duo Ralph Nauta and Lonneke Gordjin are restoring iconic historical monuments by using drones. The Dutch duo created these installations in collaboration with the companies Drone Stories and Nova Skystorie. For example, they simulated the towers of the Sagrada Família as they should have been when fully built, according to the plans left by Gaudí. Another historical monument reconstructed by DRIFT’s drones is the Colosseum in Rome. This grandiose building, built between 72 and 80 AD, is now partially ruined. But thanks to the physical simulation offered by DRIFT, we may now appreciate the scale of the exterior structure, as it must have been in its heyday.

The main point is to support the architects to consider their future projects in a hypnotic yet sustainable way by visualizing on a life-size scale
