The Schönbrunn Palm House was a greenhouse on the site of the former Dutch Botanical Garden in Vienna, Austria. This iron structure used the latest technology of its time. A steam heating system provided the means for varying temperatures in order to form a friendly atmosphere for a wide range of exotic specimens from all over the world. The proportions of the convex and concave lines of the building’s pavilions are perfectly balanced. Moreover, the glazing inserted into the external iron framework endows the structure with a perceptible light.
