The more the technology is on its way to improve day-by-day, the more we miss the old days. We miss the “nostalgia” and the “old” feelings. It feels like we were happier before, we were more peaceful. This generally exists when we find an old photograph of ourselves, as a child, smiling, or giving hugs to the ones we lost later on. But we feel all this nostalgia also when we see old pictures of the cities we like, we live in, or we never heard of before.
Here, we are going to show you some photographs which will take you to the 1890s. They were taken by Carl Størmer (1874-1957), a young student of mathematics when he purchased a hidden camera. According to his words, he was in love with a young lady when he was at Oslo University, then wanted to have just one photograph of her to look at again and again, so the solution was to buy a camera. Unfortunately, the love affair resulted in nothing, so Størmer continued his way of capturing images of people secretly on Karl Johansgate, the main street in Oslo.
Størmer’s works are close to 500, let’s see some of the candid photographs.
Is not that amazing to see the clothes worn in those days, dressing styles, old buildings, phaetons and many more details? They seem to be pure nature, good old days.
To be honest, I felt myself walking in those streets and smelling the nostalgia. What about you?
