3D Printed Prosthetic Legs Give Dog With Deformed Paws The Chance To Run

She chalked out a plan to have two front legs in a 3D version that would resemble the legs of a dog and bear the structure of a rocking chair. She went ahead and got these legs ready.

It worked wonders for Derby and he was easily able to run and move around just like any other normal dog. Derby would never be able to move if not for the 3D printing technology. The legs fitted Derby precisely as it was designed on a computer and was developed as per the exact measurements taken from Derby.

The exact measurements were taken using CT scanning and using the latest technologies available, they developed prosthetic legs that would fit Derby perfectly and give him the ability to move around. The team took into consideration all the minute details that were required.

They started with low fit prosthetic legs so that Derby would get adapted and started raising the level of the legs eventually to the normal height as Derby got used to it.

Now, Don and Sherry Portanova are happy owners of Derby and they pamper him with the best of accessories that make him happy. He is now able to around 2-3 miles every day using his new prosthetic legs.
