Small doors began to appear ten years ago in 2005 in the town of Ann Arbor. Since then they have not stopped – they have been found inside several shops, restaurants and various other buildings.
They can be credited to Jonathon B Writing, a children’s author and father who wanted to create tiny locations as homage to his children.
He actually began creating these small portals in his home back in 1993 with the aim of mesmerising and enchanting his two daughters. Over ten years later and he decided to share his creation with the town and so the first fairy door appeared outside Sweetwaters Coffee and Tea.
It only took ten days for more creations to appear.
The interior of Sweetwaters Coffee and Tea also ended up having small door too.
Before long it had spread to locations such as the Mott Children’s hospital in Ann Arbour.
Ann Arbor’s Google Offices even has one.
The Shevel Gallery also found itself with a miniature door.
The Public Library in Ann Arbor wasn’t going to miss out on its very own door!
