Designed by Plan Architect, the 26-story Nurse Dormitory at Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital offers a modern and tranquil living space for the hospital’s medical staff. Plan Architect has created a restful haven for medical staff working in a Bangkok hospital operated by the Thai Red Cross Society.
Housing 523 rooms, most suitable for two occupants, the dormitory includes essential facilities like a living area, library, canteen, washing room, and multipurpose room.
Creating a Peaceful Retreat: Harmonizing Design and Tranquil Spaces
The design harmonizes with its surroundings by forming an enclosed courtyard, creating a peaceful retreat away from the hospital’s bustling environment. The ground floor serves as an open gateway, seamlessly connecting the main road to this serene residential area.
Key features include innovative solutions for natural light and ventilation. By separating the building into two wings with a central ventilation shaft, the design ensures cross-ventilation throughout, reducing reliance on air conditioning.
Zigzag balconies enhance privacy, allow sunlight for plants, and provide functional spaces for drying clothes. A rooftop park and central green terrace further enrich the space, offering recreational areas for residents to relax and recharge.
This dormitory not only meets practical needs but also prioritizes well-being, reflecting thoughtful and sustainable architectural practices. 🌿
