An artist will usually spend many hours working on their illustrations while trying to perfect them. One particular artist named Mark Crilley created a unique artistic challenge for himself and other illustrators like him. The challenge is to pick one character that you’d want to sketch and then sketch that character three times. However, the catch is that the character must be sketched once in ten seconds, a second time in one minute and the third time in ten minutes.
The idea behind this challenge is to push artists to be creative and fast at the same time. Sometimes, the best creativity comes when you don’t have time to think or concentrate on what you’re doing. Instead, you let your subconscious mind control your hand and let it do the work for you.
One artist from Ubisoft named James Raiz did this challenge with three sketches of Batman. It is interesting to see how much of the character he sketched in each given timeframe.
