Yong Ju Lee Architecture have designed the Root Bench, a circular-shaped public art sculpture that also acts as a piece of public furniture in the Hangang Art Park in Seoul, South Korea.
The bench was designed to represent the appearance of a tree root spreading throughout the park. The nearly 100-foot diameter installation is formed from conjoined slats of wood attached to a metal frame, and sprawls from a centralized point in the park. the bench comprises three different types of furniture, set at three different heights: a child’s chair (250mm), an adult’s chair (450mm), and a table (75mm).
