Police officers in St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office were recently leaving a Florida mall when they heard what sounded like a dog whimpering nearby. The officers searched to see where the cry was coming from. This led them to a septic drain on a piece of land that was empty. There was a small dog stuck at the bottom of the drain. It was not able to climb out of there.
The officers knew they had to save the dog.
They took the dog out of the drain and got him cleaned up.
Then they tried looking for his owner, but they had no luck with that.
That is when Officer James Gettings made the decision to adopt the dog and give him a home.
The officer named the dog “Puddle” and now lives in his house and sleeps on his bed.
