Norway is a country that due to is geographical location, gets to enjoy amazing displays of nature such as the northern lights, a natural phenomenon where the sky is illumined with an emerald green, turning the landscape into something straight out of a fairy tale. Harald Akbrigsten is a native of Norway and a photographer for the Norwegian public television, one of his latest assignments was to snap some images and film footage of the northern lights in action. What he didn’t expect was to be accompanied in taking in the amazing view by a few whales!
When filming footage at a location just of the coast of f Valøya, an island not too far from the city Tromsø, a pair of humpback whales can be spotted near the surface of the water beneath the majestic green sky in the evening. The video shows the massive creatures slowly approach the surface of the water, making some small waves before emerging to catch a bit of air. We would like to think that they came for the amazing view too, and it’s a fantastic coincidence that Albrightsen and a few others happened to be there to capture the awesome footage for people to enjoy.
