The Swimming Pool Grotto of Vizcaya Museum & Gardens in Miami, Florida
Completed in 1916, the swimming pool grotto inside the Vizcaya Museum & Gardens was once decorated with a patterned marble floor, stained glass doors, and antique furniture. Later, the ceiling was also embellished with a beautiful mural with nautical plaster reliefs of seashells, fish, coral, and sea plants. This beautiful mural completed in 1917 was the work of an American artist Robert Winthrop Chanler whose only two murals managed to survive in the US.
