Goose Creek Tower is an unusual building owned and created by a lawyer named Philip Weidner in Willow, Alaska. Due to the whimsical architecture of the building, it is also known as the “Dr. Seuss House.” Weidner’s initial plan was to build a 40 by 40 ft (12 by 12 m) log cabin. Later, he came up with the idea that he could construct pillars that would enable him to put one house on top of another. Thus, he built the 185-foot-tall (56-meter-tall) structure, getting narrower as it ascends into the sky.
Nevertheless, the length of Goose Creek Tower had to stop at 185 feet, as the official federal air space is 200 feet (61 meters).
Weidner has been working on the construction since the late 1990s. The major building is complete, but the interior still needs work to become habitable. Currently, the tower is not open to the public as it is private property and is still a construction zone. Nevertheless, Weidner stated that he may open the building for outside visitors once the construction is over.
