Artist Blows Glass Vases Directly Into Slabs of Live Edge Wood

Scott Slagerman has always been intrigued with glass and how it can be formed from a fragile object to molten fluid or into a solid state and then back again. The entire process can be very delicate and dangerous as well. His fascination has led him to his understanding of glass used in architecture as well as for everyday objects.

Glass Vases

Scot Slagerman collaborated with Jim Fishman and created this very unique, elegant Wood & Glass series. Each vase is formed by blowing directly into a shape cut from wood while it is lying perfectly flat on a table in order to form a fit that works like a piece of a puzzle. This is very intense work that requires precision details, speed, and movement.

You can see more from the Glass & Wood series on Slagerman’s website.
