I bet you have never heard this kind of a scream, Casey the Schnauzer made a true scream of joy seeing her long time lost sibling back home! Rebecca Svetina and her family dog- Casey have been companions for almost 9 years, but with a long distance relationship existing between the duo. While Rebecca was a student at Kent State University studying to be a communication major, Casey was just a puppy. During vacations, Rebecca returns to her parent’s in Murrysville, where her dog always be to greet her. No different from any other college student, there were lots of his, hellos and goodbyes as Rebecca went back and forth between school and home. However, Rebecca had never been gone for much long until in 2008 when she made up her mind to travel to Slovenia. Two years after her trip, on 23rd July, Rebecca returned home. At this point Casey couldn’t have been happier seeing her.
No doubt, her family was so glad seeing her back home, but it was the other way round as her little Casey stole the show. Just wait to see the clipse for yourself! According to Rebecca’s family, Casey is “very loyal and loving to family and friends.” Known for her excitements when greeting people, no matter how long they might have gone- one week or a few hours. Yet none had ever sighted Casey in this exciting mood until the day Rebecca came back home.
After leaving the college, Rebecca decided heading to Slovenia in 2008, creating a kind of distance between her and Casey far more often. Rebecca’s new husband, Miha Svetina, was so amazed that he made the video clipse of this reunion with the intention of sending it to friends and family in Europe. Surprisingly, millions of people have clicked to watch the heartwarming video of Casey (a dog) and Rebecca (his human).
This video has taken YouTube by storm, with several millions of views, causing their phone to ring off the hook from curious reporters and people all over the globe. While the video is amazing, it at first caused the family some concerns as they confirmed in a phone interview, “We were actually worried. Was she having a heart attack or a stroke or a seizure?”
At a point, Casey couldn’t scream anymore, and decided to collapse on the floor, a pile of happiness that at last her friend was back home! At this point you can even hear Rebecca’s husband clearly in the background saying, “Is she okay by the way?” Just to be sure their sweet Schnauzer was very okay, Casey was taken to the veterinary clinic afterwards. Medical report confirmed Casey to be just fine, but she has been under close watch–should all that love and excitement proved too much. This couple was married in Slovenia just a year ago, in the presence of just twenty of their closest American family and friends. On th 26th July, they came to Rebecca’s hometown in Murrysville for a reception at the Ehalt family home with eighty close guests.
After their wedding and reception, the couple had plans to take it easy, while they see some of the awesome sights around Pittsburg during the week. Including the Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural masterpiece in Fayette County, and the Senator John Heinz History Center. But none of their plans came to fruition, rather they decide which media groups they would grant interviews to, as ALL reporters wanted one. Good Morning America, CNN, and some other local news stations were among the lucky ones to have an interview with Rebecca and her overjoyed dog.
Rebecca chose to going to Slovenia as her grandparents migrated from there far back in 1908. For one year of her stay, a scholarship was paid for her to learn the language while there. The trip ended up to be a once in a lifetime chance Rebecca is happy to have had. She said, “It’s a beautiful country with just 2 million residents. You can swim in the sea and hike in the mountains all in the same day.” Not only did Rebecca have an amazing time in Slovenia, she also met Miha Svetina (who she got married to) during her 11th month in the country, at which point she stopped coming home as frequently. This eventually cause two years to go by without Casey and Rebecca seeing each other. A graphic designer and an English teacher, Rebecca now calls Slovenia home. So unfortunate for sweet little Casey, but Rebecca will be back into the states by August 10th– So, get set for some excitement Casey! Image Credits: Rebecca Ehalt
