If we are honest with ourselves, we can all admit that there are things that we are afraid of. It’s a part of the human condition. If we’re really honest with ourselves, we can admit that sometimes the fears we have are a bit irrational. Take our fear of spiders; they are tiny and aren’t likely to cause us any damage (Unless you live in Australia!) yet we’re terrified of these coin-sized critters!
Well, the fact that we have irrational fears – or at least, other people do – is the theme that Fran Krause, an illustrator, explores in the works that are collectively known as “Deep Dark Fears.”
Deep Dark Fears is for two types of people; the ones who want to have their fears realized in illustrated format, who will send their irrational fear in to be pictured by Krause, and the voyeurs among us who like to stare (and perhaps point and laugh!) at the irrational fears of other people.
However, a warning: Watch out – if you look at some of these pictures, you might realize you have a fear you never knew you had!
