Water cake is a somewhat unique dessert served in Japan. Similar to jelly, it has soft, jiggly consistency and it also happens to be completely transparent, giving it a water-like appearance.
Known as water mochi, the dessert became popular after it was created and served in a confectionary in Yamanashi.
Now, the dessert has become a viral sensation in Japan after a picture of a water cake shaped into a lazy cat was uploaded onto social media site Twitter by user mithiruka.
The picture of the sleeping cat has gone on to receive more than 19k retweets and 26k likes since it was posted on Sunday.
