Let’s face it, one of the most entertaining things we all do when driving around town or going on a road trip is reading bumper stickers! There are so many really wonderful stickers that you have to ask where someone comes up with these?
In case you don’t know, the bumper came into being for tourists. During the 1940s and 50s, many resorts or destinations had their own bumper stickers and would go around a put them on visitor’s bumpers. These were usually done for promotional purposes but they certainly did mushroom from then on.
People came to realize that the bumper of a car can provide a great spot for anything from promotions to just giving everyone else a good laugh! Bumper stickers have always played a part in election years, allowing people to express who they were backing in the election. Bumper stickers are displayed for just about every topic from religious affiliations, someone’s favorite baseball or football team, organizations people belong to, political humor, and just comments on situations we have all run into, in a very humorous way. Many years ago, there was a bumper sticker that said “Sh*t Happens” The state of Florida banned the stickers. Some very creative person came up with a wonderful politically correct response to the legislature and it caught on fire! “Do Do Occurs”
