Photographer Takes Portraits of Black Shelter Cats Who Are Often the Last to Be Adopted

For most of us, the idea of adopting a cat or kitten is so exciting, we head to the shelter straight away and start drooling over the adorable kitten faces.

What we don’t seem to realize, though, is that most of us, when deciding on a kitten, tend to go with the orange or calico, or white colors, often ignoring black kittens and cats entirely.

Though some don’t want to admit it, we ignore black kittens in our decision because they tend to remind us of the superstition that we’ve been taught growing up.

This is where Black Cats Project comes in, created by Casey Elise.

She works with shelters by taking photographs of black kittens and cats, capturing them with their individual personalities and showing them off so that the world can fall in love with them, too.  Maybe this will help us give more of these black beauties a home.
