The Forest Tower, a remarkable architectural achievement designed by EFFEKT, is a stunning attraction in Denmark that provides visitors with an exceptional experience with nature. The tower stands at an impressive 45 meters high and boasts an iconic hourglass shape, which is inspired by a cylindrical design.
The tower’s construction is based on a hyperboloid shape, with the bottom and top maximized, while the middle is narrowed to create a unique viewing experience for visitors. Three beautiful beech trees grow in the center of the tower, and visitors get to experience them up close as they ascend the ramps.
The ramps are made of local South Zealand oak from Bregentved Estate and Gisselfeld Monastery, and the main construction is made of maintenance-free corten steel, creating a seamless blend of aesthetics and functionality. The ramp’s design creates a sense of rotation, with the vertical steel tubes rotating 120 degrees, providing visitors with a unique and exciting experience as they ascend the tower.
As visitors move upwards through the tower, they experience a change in the distance between the ramps, and finally, they reach the viewing platform 140 meters above sea level. From this vantage point, visitors can enjoy a breathtaking 360-degree view of the surrounding landscape.
The Forest Tower is not just a remarkable architectural masterpiece, but also a sustainable one. All the wood used in the construction is PEFC certified, ensuring that it comes from responsibly managed forests. The tower’s design and use of environmentally friendly materials demonstrate the studio’s commitment to preserving the natural beauty of the forest.
