Nervous System is a design studio that is based in Massachusetts. Their primary goal is to develop original computer software programs which can imitate natural processes.
For example, they create organic versions of common jewelry and household items. They’ve created necklaces which look like algae and created lamps that are shaped like leaves by using a 3D printer.
The company’s most recent creation is a jigsaw puzzle which resembles a multi-colored rock called agate. These “geode” jigsaw puzzles are all made differently from each other.
The software which makes these puzzles are programmed to have natural variations determine the pattern, shape, and color of each puzzle.
The actual material of the puzzles is birch plywood. You can purchase either a 180-piece puzzle or a 370-piece puzzle. The company has their original puzzles available through their online website.
