If you are a dog lover, then Costa Rica is a place that you need to visit at some point in your life. There is an island called “Territorio de Zaguates”, which translates to “Island of Strays.” They are a spot that is dedicated entirely to rehoming dogs in need of rescue. This island is the place where these animals are brought to in order to have a second chance on life. Over 900 dogs wander happily through the island, exploring to their heart’s content throughout the warm day, and then having shelter from the elements at night with their fellow furry companions. The best part is that you can head out and do a hike with these animals, and then take one home! Each of these happy dogs are available for adoption and will make a great, exercise-loving companion.
