For all women out there, this first woman’s photo-journalist in Japan, Tsuneko Sasamoto, has been inspirational, to say the least. Now at 101 years old, she is still taking photographs, though she has suffered a few breaks that have required her to go to rehab to learn how to hold a camera again her damaged hand. She started photographing when she was 25 and her pictures gained her fame in Japan both before and after the war. She is known for shooting the photos that hold you in silence for a bit as you stare in wonder and awe. She shares that she uses her curiosity to shoot those important photos because it is those moments of wonder and shock that we need to remember forever. Her photos from the beginning of her career to the present day are all beautiful and inspiration in their own ways.
